Pupil Premium

The Pupil Premium is additional funding for schools to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers.

The school will receive pupil premium based on the number of children in the following groups:

  • £1,320 for every pupil who claims free school meals or who has claimed free school meals in the last six years.
  • £2,300 for every pupil who has left local authority care through adoption, a special guardianship order or child arrangements order.
  • £300 for every pupil with a parent who is serving in HM Forces or has retired on a pension from the Ministry of Defence. This funding is to help with pastoral support.

Is your child eligible for the Pupil Premium?

Your child may be able to get free school meals if you get any of the following:

  • Income Support
  • income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • the guaranteed element of Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
  • Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
  • Universal Credit - if you apply on or after 1 April 2018 your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get)

If eligible, our school will receive the additional pupil premium funding and your child will continue to receive free meals in Key Stage 2.

Pupil Premium strategy

We want to use our Pupil Premium funding in the most effective way possible. Our job is to ensure that all children, whatever their ability, background and family income status, are given opportunities to learn according to their need.

We use the Pupil Premium to assess and address specific needs nought about by social inequality, whether those children receive free school meals or not or are a Looked After Child.

Pupil Premium will always receive support in the form of funded extra intervention, but it will always be provided where necessary benefiting the child’s learning.

Pupil Premium funding will be allocated following a needs analysis, through pupil progress meetings which are held half-termly and which identify priority classes, groups or individuals.

All schools are required to publish a strategy statement so that parents can understand how the pupil premium is being used. Please click on the link below to read our statement.
