 Friday 15th May 2026

Dear Families,

A huge well done to our brilliant Year 6 children and the wonderful Year 6 team for their efforts, determination, and dedication throughout the SATs this week. Each day began with an outdoor breakfast on the astro turf, and across the week they showed incredible resilience. Their fish 'n' chips celebration after the final test on Thursday was truly well deserved.

Thank you also to our wider school community, who gathered around them during the week, offering such valuable support and encouragement.

This week’s newsletter is a bumper edition, with a wealth of information included. Please do take a moment to note any key dates relevant to your child.

Schönes Wochenende!

Patrick

Thank you to all the children who came to school wearing green today, and thank you for your donations. You raised over £200 which will go towards new wellbeing resources in school. How amazing is that?!

The Well-Being Warriors have spent their hard-earned money from the well-being sale, on a range of different sensory and fidget toys, they've also been making their own sensory bottles and playdough stress balls. These have been put into calm boxes for every class to have, which will be a brilliant way to help every student with their self regulation. Well done Wellbeing Warriors!

On the subject of Green...

There have been questions raised recently about what is happening to our Green Space. Please note, this remains a highly valued area of our outdoor space, and its upkeep requires regular maintenance. Although it has now reopened, recent reseeding work meant the space needed to be closed to allow it to establish properly.

Inevitably, there will always be some wear and tear; however, a plan is in place to manage this throughout the year. We are also mindful that any major events held in the space (such as Oktoberfest) must include clear plans to protect and restore it afterwards.

Our sincere thanks go to our caretaker, Mr Alex, and to all members of our community who give their time and care to maintaining and protecting this important space.

Regarding more general updates on premises, the SLT works closely with the ACC and the Friends of JKPS. The ACC is a useful channel for enquiries about wider school projects, while any specific concerns should be addressed directly to the school in the first instance.

Anthem Community Council (ACC)

As many of you know, the JKPS ACC (Anthem Community Council) is made up of volunteers from the school and the wider community.

What we do  - We support the school in developing its strategy and act as a conduit between the community, the school, and the Trust.

Our champion roles cover a range of areas, including:

  • Parent/carer engagement
  • Community links
  • German provision
  • SEND
  • Safeguarding
  • Staff
  • Climate

We work closely with the school and Trust and are committed to strengthening engagement with parents and community representatives. We are also continuing to develop ways to support parent contributions to the ACC. If there is a topic you would like us to consider, please contact us via email (governance@anthemtrust.uk).

Recent activities - Recent ACC work has included:

  • Supporting accessibility developments in the green space (in collaboration with Friends)
  • Supporting the recruitment of the Head of School
  • Gathering SEND parent voice
  • Contributing to the school’s inclusion strategy

Looking ahead - We are delighted to welcome Laura Green as Executive Headteacher to JKPS and look forward to working together next term to support the school’s priorities.

Friends Corner

Those of you who joined the AGM last week will have heard about our push to get a number of long standing projects finished by the end of the year. Clearing the decks for a big push on a capital project next year. With a date for the installation of the Early Years Huts arranged, and the Floella-Benjamin-Bibliothek being used in school it is nice to see these projects come to fruition.

Estate Agent Boards: Please sign up to have an estate agent board outside your house. This is an easy way to support school, and advertise events that we are holding. Local Estate Agent Peddar will pay £15 per board to support the Summer Festival and/or Oktoberfest please sign up here.

First Aid: We have organised First Aid Course for parents, carers, teenage siblings with the aim of helping the whole community be more confident about what to do in an emergency. There are two sessions available on 18 May or 4 June (both 6:30-89:30). Part of the fee will go towards funding first aid courses for JKPS children during school hours. Please note that the course is not officially certified. Book here: https://www.fojkps.org/shopPre-loved Uniform: we are almost out of size 30/32/34 jumpers - donations gratefully received.

Call out for contributions and volunteers for the Summer Festival on 13 June! We’re looking forward to coming together and sharing delicious food, music and games with you all on 13 June. So far we’ve got:

Salsa dancing

Steel pans

We would love groups of people to come together to run stalls with food from different regions around the world. What flavours and musical talents can you and your friends add to the mix?

We’d also love to hear from any young entrepreneurs who would like to run their own stall on the day!

Share your ideas and food with us. Contact  Anahita at fojkps@gmail.com for details.
