Newsletter 23rd Feburary 2023

Dear Everyone,

It's been a whirlwind of a week. Thank you to everybody who came in to meet with our new CEO, Mohsen Ojja, and for your feedback if you were able to meet him.

I really want to thank the teachers, colleagues and children for making the day run so smoothly. The voices that he collected demonstrated a unified school who are proud of how far we have come.

Teacher Strike Day Thursday 2nd February

Next Thursday is the NEU Teachers strike. We will be writing you a formal letter, once we know how many teachers are striking and if or how many classes will be closed. As you may be aware, teachers do not need to share with us their intentions and so until the day of the actual strike we cannot be 100% sure of the staffing levels in the school.

Currently, we believe that we will have significantly more staff striking and presumably will need to close some classes or year groups. We thank you in advance for your support and any inconvenience that this may cause you.

What's been happening in school this week?

Have a look at the topics we are going to be learning about next term!

We have been so excited to start our new topics through a range of art and creative activities; such as creating our own dinosaurs, Japanese art and Egyptian creations!

In Year 1 this week, we were so excited to find that eggs had been played in the forest area! After some investigating, we have predicted that they might be dinosaur eggs! We are so grateful to the children and families in Year 1 who are currently looking after the eggs at home. Please remember to return them to school on Monday. We just hope they don't hatch and find a T-Rex eating out of your fridge!

Here are our reading rewards at JKPS which are displayed in each classroom.

Just a reminder, that only one signature can be counted for each day towards the 300 reads. However, if you read more than one book, that is amazing!

Keep up the great reading!

Message from Friends of JKPS!

Dear Families,

We are delighted to have launched our HomeRun App Network for our school community which will help families and staff to use active travel, and supporting our parent’s and pupil’s transport requirements. The more people sign up, the more effective it will be, and the Friends will get a donation if enough people sign up.

Please follow the link below to sign up to our private network:

Homerun-App

Our network will allow you to:

  • Access school travel information in one convenient place.

  • Find and arrange carpools, travel buddies, walking and cycling groups, and other available travel options to and from school.

  • Message parents from school securely and without the need to share contact details.

  • Receive updates from your school community.

  • Help create safer streets and cleaner air for our children.

Medical Notice

In Key Stage One, we currently have a higher number of children getting head lice. Please could we ask if you could check your child's hair and treat them in needed. Also, if long hair could be tied up, this will help to prevent the spread.
