Dear families,
As we come to the end of another busy week at JKPS, it feels as though we are beginning to find our rhythm together. The children are settling into their new classes, relationships are growing, routines are becoming familiar and there is a lovely sense of the school coming back to life after the summer.
This week, children have continued working together on their class regulations – thinking about the kind of classrooms and community they want to create together, and the part that each of us plays in making JKPS a kind, safe and joyful place to learn. We have also begun to dive more deeply into our curriculum subjects, and across the school children have opened the pages of some wonderful new books. There is something about the beginning of a new school year that we love as educators: fresh books, new ideas, big questions and all the possibilities of the year stretching out ahead of us!
As we have moved around the school this week, it has been lovely to see children talking about their learning, reconnecting with friends, getting to know new adults and beginning to make their classrooms their own.
Thank you, once again, for the warmth and patience you have shown us as we find our feet together. We also want to acknowledge that there have been a few hiccups along the way this week, particularly around communication, and we are sorry for any frustration or inconvenience these may have caused. We know that families are juggling work, childcare and many other commitments, and that advance notice really matters. As a result, we have been working closely with our admin team this week to look carefully at both our incoming and outgoing communications and how we can make these clearer, timelier and easier for families to navigate. In particular, we apologise for the late notice of this week's curriculum meetings.
This newsletter is part of that work. We hope it gives you the key information you need for the half-term ahead, and we will continue to build on it each week so that you have greater visibility of important dates across the year. We want you to feel informed, included and connected to what is happening at JKPS – and, as we establish these new ways of working, we hope you will begin to feel the difference.
We know we are only a couple of weeks into our journey together, and we are still listening and learning. Thank you for the patience, the conversations on the gate and the feedback. Please continue to let us know on the gate what's working and how we can improve – we really value your input.
