Newsletter 3rd March 2023

Dear All,

Thank you for your support this week: for all the popcorn popped, the cakes baked, the wonderful outfits paraded, the reading relay raced, and the money donated. It was a whole team effort, and it means we can ensure that we can continue to develop our reading areas so they are cosy and serene places to spend time in, with a growing range of books that reflect all of us in our communities.

Have fabulous weekends!

Bedtime Stories!

Wow, what a fantastic event! We loved seeing everyone in their pyjamas (especially the teachers)! We enjoyed having our snacks and juice (thank you JKPS Friends). In the classes there were stories shared, songs sung and even a play in one class! We can't wait to do this event again next year!

Friends of JKPS Corner

Thanks to all those who popped corn and helped to bag up 180 bags of popcorn for this week’s Bedtime Stories session. We hope the smell of popcorn has now left the staff room!

Members of the “Stack of Chairs” will be around during some drop offs and pick ups next week, do grab us if you’d like to say hi or fancy a chat. If you're wondering how you'll spot us, watch this space!

We are also planning to have a drop-in session during the Gardening Day on Saturday 11th March, so please come and meet us and say hi then too if you can. More details to come.

Safer Streets WhatsApp Group

We all want to be a part of making journeys to and from school as safe as possible for our students. There are limits to how much the school can do independently without parents and governors. In order to influence the council to help provide more safety for the area surrounding our school entrances, we need to act together as a school community. So, we would like to encourage all parents who would like to be able to participate in the discussion to join the WhatsApp group listed below. We hope to use the consensus achieved in the WhatsApp group to form the parents’ voice in our response to the council. So, please join and have your voice heard. A word of note, our only agenda in this group is safety around the school gates and anything that can be done to make our entrances safer. As a school, we will not be getting involved in the discussions around road planning. We would ask that you discuss these options in your local community groups.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Thank You,

Amy Teichman Chair of Governors (Magnus’ Mom, Y1)
