21st April 2023

Dear Families,

Eid Mubarak! Wishing our Muslim families a happy Eid. And a warm welcome to all to the Summer term. It is (like all the rest) a very busy one interspersed with two bank holidays and two strike days. Thank you to all those children who retuned their homework, if your child hasn't done so already please can they return it.

Strikes

We anticipate that for 27th April and May 2nd that the same classes will be shut again. We have been asked by some of you, in the name of equity, if we can change which classes are ones are open but we cannot ask our staff to cover classes where the teacher is choosing to strike. We will keep you updated and thank you for your ongoing support.

Workshop

A reminder that the Early Years Writing workshop takes place on Wednesday 26th at 9am, where we will look at children learn to write and what you can do do to support them at home.

German Provision

Some of you may be aware that Ms Niya has been off unwell recently and having now had her final surgery, we would like to wish her a speedy recovery.

As you can imagine, her absence has had, and will continue to have, a significant impact on our German provision. However, where we have been able to, we have put in substitute German teachers and/ or alternative German provision to enable continuity of learning. We apologise for any disruption to your child's learning and hope to return to the usual timetable as soon as possible.

New term- new topics!

Share-a-thon!

{alt_tag}

How can I be in the Share-a-thon?

  1. First, make a pile of books you would like to share with others.
  2. Create a list of families, friends and even neighbours you could share and exchange books with.
  3. To share a book you could loan it, give it or share together through reading.
  4. Collect sponsorship from family and friends for each book you share and read.
  5. Share books up until the end of half term (Friday 2nd June).
  6. Collect your sponsorship money to bring to school in cash on Friday 9th June.

Please look inside your child's bag for the letter that accompanies this.

Save the date: Summer Social Picnic: Saturday June 10th from 1pm. Come and enjoy a relaxed picnic in the school grounds. More details to follow!

Local estate agent Pedder are once again sponsoring boards for the event, for JKPS families to host. For every board we receive £15. Boards are erected 2 weeks prior to the event and are taken down 1 week after. If you would be happy to host a board then please sign up here: https://forms.gle/UL7rtxfT2PNyhMREA

Deadline to sign up is Monday  1st May

Our new school travel app Homerun is an easy way to link families up to share the journey to JKPS (especially when there are train strikes). It’s particularly helpful for those coming longer distances who might want to team up on train and bus journeys or car shares. The added bonus is that the Friends get a donation of £2000 once enough people have signed up! We only need 10 more families to sign up so we can get our first £600! Please help us make the area around our school safer and help create a better school run for everyone by signing up today - it takes 3 mins and then you can start searching for people close by. http://www.homerun-app.com/launch/jk5493.

The next Gardening Day will be hosted by Year 6 and will take place on Sunday, 23rd April, 11am-3pm. The whole school is very welcome to join and any free pair of hands is very much appreciated.
