28th April  2023

Dear Families,

Happy Friday- I hope you all enjoy the long bank holiday weekend. A reminder that there is the second day of the strike on Tuesday and the same classes will be closed. Breakfast club will be open to children who are in school and it is our best intention to provide after-school care. In the event of this changing due to staff numbers, we will notify you.

A heads-up that July 18th is the whole school visit to the Old Vic to see 'Mog the Forgetful Cat' and the following day (July 19th) is Sports Day. Please see below if you would like to volunteer. Also coming up are planned celebrations for the King's Coronation (see below) in May and a celebration for what would have been Judith Kerr's 100th birthday in June (more to follow soon).

Have a wonderful Bank Holiday weekend!

A message from JKPS Friends!

On behalf of the school, thank you so much to everyone who has donated so generously to enable us to buy more classroom supplies for the school!

Friends Corner

It’s a bumper one this week - the school has lots of stuff coming up!

1️⃣ Coronation Cake Sale 🎂 - Friday 5th May after school. Please bake something (nut free) and bring it to the office on the Friday morning or at pick-up. If you can help between 3pm and 4pm to set up and sell cakes, please let your class rep know. Children in clubs will be catered for, and all proceeds to go towards SEN supplies.

2️⃣ Summer Picnic - Saturday 10th June (13:00 - 18:00) at JKPS: This is a relaxed get-together, open to all JKPS families. Come and enjoy songs from the JKPS choir, live theatre, games, tombola, face painting and more. We will need volunteers to help set up gazebos, make cakes, sell cakes and second hand uniform, run the bar and more so put it in your diary! https://www.fojkps.org/events/summer-picnic

3️⃣ Pedder boards deadline - Monday 1st May. It’s your last chance to sign up to host a Pedder board outside your house for the Summer Picnic. For every board we receive £15. Boards are erected 2 weeks prior to the event and are taken down 1 week after. Please sign up here: https://forms.gle/UL7rtxfT2PNyhMREA

4️⃣ Mog Theatre Trip - Tuesday 18th July. The whole school will decamp to the Old Vic Theatre, via public transport. Nearer the time we will be asking for parent volunteers to help get the children there, and watch the show if you would like to. Save the date if this is something you would like to get involved with and please do buy your tickets if you haven’t yet. https://www.fojkps.org/buynow/mog-the-forgetful-cat-theatre-trip

5️⃣ Sports Day - Wednesday 19th July @ The Griffin Sports Ground. This is a new venue for the school, it is closer to JKPS and means the whole school can go, along with parent spectators. We will need volunteers to help - so please note the date if you would like to help out or come and watch. **This is the day after the Mog Theatre Trip, so we’re giving you plenty of notice if you want/need to take time off work to get involved with both events**.

6️⃣ Gardening days - dates TBC but it’s looking like 21st May, 17th June and 9th July.

7️⃣ Classroom supplies - we have been working with Ms Jo & the teachers to draw up a whole school supplies list. We will be delivering the requested materials next week, and are also working on a future plan to ensure classroom supply needs are continuously met. To donate towards classroom supplies: https://www.fojkps.org/ways-to-give. NB monthly or regular giving goes to the general fund, for ad-hoc needs like this, rather than towards specific projects, so if you can give regularly please do 🙏🙌.

And finally (phew), please email us at fojkps@gmail.com with any questions or suggestions.
