Dear Families,

A HUGE shout-out to the wonderful year 6 children who completed their SATS tests this week. They have worked so incredibly hard, and we are all very proud of them. Thank you to the amazing adults who supported them in the lead up to and throughout the week. The rest of the school have also been very supportive throughout the week as they moved around the school. Thank you!

SAFEGUARDING - Stranger Incident

On Wednesday, at approximately 6:30pm, one of our KS2 children was chased by a man whilst she was riding her bike in Sunray Gardens.

The man was described as black, slim, around 5ft6-9 inches tall, possibly late teens/early twenties, wearing a hooded black jacket containing some blue and silver coloured material, black non-shiny tracksuit bottoms and black trainers.

Please continue to be vigilant and reinforce stranger danger messages with children. Any suspicious or concerning behaviour can be reported to the police by phoning 101 or 999 depending on the urgency.

Wear it Green Day - Thursday 18th May

To raise awareness of Mental Health Week, we are inviting children and staff to wear something green on Thursday 18th May. There is no need to make a donation, it is purely to raise awareness and promote good mental health for all. The children will take part in a short classroom discussion around mental health and an assembly on Friday. The assembly will also be an opportunity to share some exciting news about future projects at JKPS. One of these will be 'Outdoor Classroom Day'. Outdoor Classroom is a global movement to make time outdoors part of every child's day at school and home.  Time outdoors – on Outdoor Classroom Day and every day – will make children happier and healthier, as well as equipping them with the skills they need for life. We are so very fortunate for our amazing grounds here at JKPS, so this will be an opportunity for teachers to take children outside to play and learn, making the most of our extensive grounds. EYFS and Year 6 will be kicking of the project. Watch this space!

Next week is Living Streets’ Walk to School Week. This year's theme is “Walk with wildlife”, with a challenge to encourage children to travel actively to school every day. Children need 60 minutes minimum of physical activity per day, and walking to school, if you can, is a brilliant way to help them keep active and healthy. Year 1 Boat Trip

Year 1 went on a fabulous tour of London on Thursday! They used a train, tube and a boat to see the wonderful landmarks which are along the River Thames all the way to Greenwich! The children were so excited, polite and made all their teachers so proud of their behaviour and resilience when the rain suddenly poured and all of the walking! We hope our Year 1 parents have heard all about the amazing sights we saw and the children went to bed exhausted!
