Mental Health Awareness Week

This week we've been celebrating Mental Health Awareness week. The school was an array of different shades of green on Thursday and the teachers enjoyed talking to the children about mental health. Today they had a special assembly where we called on volunteers to become 'Wellbeing warriors'. This means there will be a small group of children who will be in charge of championing mental health around the school.

The teachers also have been celebrating this week and have enjoyed a hamper of treats on Thursday and everyone has contributed to a staff shared playlist of all our favourite songs!

Thanks to Ms Sarah (EYFS) and Ms Sara (Year 5) for organising!

Drugs and Alcohol PSHE curriculum

Thanks to everyone who came to the workshop. Next week, as part of our PSHE curriculum, all classes from y1 to y6 will be taking part in age appropriate lessons about Drugs and Alcohol. The lessons are aimed to equip children with the tools to make positive choices in the future. They explore the impact of using different substances and will discuss who to speak to for advice and what to do if they encounter peer pressure. Here is a list of what topics will be covered in each year group.

Outdoor Classroom Day

To celebrate Outdoor Classroom Day, classes have been spending time learning outdoors. The Reception children made special frames from natural materials to show their forest treasures. The Nursery after school club have been watering the EYFS garden area and even planted some potatoes. We've had a lovely week spending lots of time in our outside area and enjoying the sunshine ☀️

Year 6 acted out a haunting drama in the forest and then took their maths outside, creating Pie charts.

Year 5 took their PSHE lesson outside, learning and practising First aid skills.

Watch this space for more outdoor learning next week!

Year 1 achievements

Year 1 Singing Festival

On Tuesday 16th May, Year 1 were invited to perform at JAGS with 5 other schools from the local community. We were proud to sing "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" in German and in English! They were fabulous during the event and we can't wait  to do it again next year!

An amazing piece of home learning arrived in Year 1 the Monday after our trip. Oliver from Malala class created his own skyline of London from the items we saw on the boat with labels to match. Brilliant piece of work Oliver!
