Friday 23rd February 2024

Dear Families,

It was an exciting start to the term this week with a visit from one of our link schools in Cologne. The Year 5 children met for games and a scavenger hunt in Brockwell Park on Tuesday,  and then spent the day with us on Wednesday, finding out more about life in an English primary school. The visit was a huge success for both schools and thank you to all in Year 5 for showing such great hospitality. As the children left, the teachers were already buzzing with excitement on how we can develop this link further next year.

Have lovely weekends.

Patrick

Messages for the week:

Thank you for your contributions towards Place2Be as part of our Express Yourself day - you raised £125!

Parent Teacher Meetings next week: please be reminded that these meetings are an opportunity for you to discuss your child's work and progress. As we will need to keep strictly to 10 minute slots, if anything needs discussion in great detail, your child's teacher will be able to arrange an additional time at a future date. All meetings will be held in the upstairs hall.

Following another incident of one of our children having an anaphylactic reaction, please be reminded that we are NUT and SEED FREE school. This includes products such as

  • Seeded bread
  • Hummus
  • Seed bar
  • Anything containing nuts or sesame seeds

Please be vigilant about the snacks that your child brings into school.

Art Immersion

As we start our new humanities topics, as is typical of our first week back, this week the children have been immersing themselves in their new topics through  artwork.

Massive congratulations to Ruby (Y4) and Lila (Y3) for their incredible achievements with Irish Dancing! You're both champions!

Eco Council/ Road Safety Update

The school Eco Council has organised a poster competition to highlight road safety outside the school. The winners will be turned into a banner and all the entries will be displayed on the fence outside school. The exciting news is that our local councillors and MP Helen Hayes will come to see the banner, unveiled next Friday 1 March, so don't miss it! We will meet on the corner of Village way from 8.20. There will be a number of walking buses to join. Details to follow on What'sApp.

Friends Corner

We hope you all had a great half term. This morning’s sunshine has made us look forward to Spring and Summer! We’re already thinking ahead to the Summer Fair, Sports Day and celebrating the school’s 10th birthday so please get in touch at fojkps@gmail.com if you would like to be involved.

A look back on what we’ve been up to in the last half term. We supported the school’s reinstatement of the choir and helped the football teams raise money for their football strip with a bake sale which raised an amazing £560! We continue to support the outside space by providing ad-hoc gardening equipment.

Talking of the outside space, please do come down and enjoy the almost-Spring weather tomorrow if you’d like to help the kids plant some broad beans and potatoes, to be able to harvest them in the Summer🤞. Pop down anytime between 11am and 3pm, it’s always a fun and relaxed way to enjoy the school grounds.

Remember to join our Community WhatsApp channel if you’d like to be able to find the main messages we send out in one easy place. Link to join is here.
