Dear Families,

A huge well done to all the Year 6 children, the Year 6 teaching team and for everyone else who helped with SATS week. Thank you too, for your support with the children's learning at home. The children were amazing, showing real resilience and commitment to their learning and thoroughly enjoyed their well-deserved trip to the bowling alley this morning. Well done Year 6's!

Thank you to everyone who 'wore it green' today as part of our commitment to increasing awareness of, and supporting with mental health. A great way to improve mental health is by keeping moving. Whether it's having a dance to your favourite song, going for a walk, or tidying your room. there are loads of ways to keep moving. Try the check-in bingo for more ideas! There are lots more tips on how to boost your mental health here.

Schönes Wochenende!

News from Early Years this week...

Reception children have been finishing their writing inspired by their Literacy Tree text The Night Pirates. Look at their beautiful letters about why they could join the crew and their wonderful display.

Nursery have been busy mark-making, labelling the parts of a flower as part of their Growing and Change topic.

Deutschecke

Here's a little "Zungenbrecher" about snails:

Try practising the German "sch" sound with this tongue twister. In German. It is pronounced like "sh" in English and not "sk" like in "School" . When "Sch" is at the beginning of a German word, it can be followed by a consonant (Schr/ Schl / Schm / Schn etc) or a noun whereas in English the sound is followed by a vowel.

"Schnecken erschrecken, wenn sie an Schnecken schlecken, weil zum Schrecken vieler Schnecken Schnecken nicht schmecken."

"Snails are take fright when they lick snails because, to the horror of many snails, snails don’t taste good." Don't try this at home!

After school Portuguese Classes

We are in discussions with Instituto Camões to set up an after-school Portuguese class at JKPS. With enough interest/ pupils, they can open a class at JKPS from September 2024. These would run from 4-6pm and be booked, managed and taught by Inst. Camoes. If you have a Portuguese-speaking child (does not have to be Portuguese citizen) that would like to attend these classes, or know of a local family that may be interested (does not need to be at JKPS), please register directly via this link choosing JKPS. Obrigado!
