 Friday 13th February 2026

Dear Families,

There’s certainly been plenty of talk about the rain lately — and it’s fair to say we’ve had more than our fair share at JKPS over the past few weeks. However, nothing can dampen the incredible spirit of our children, who have truly shone throughout this half-term. Today’s ‘Love Yourself’ Day was a wonderful celebration of that spirit and a reminder of just how brilliant they all are.

Throughout the week, we have raised awareness of Children's Mental Health Week and highlighted its importance in many meaningful ways. Activities have included West African Drumming, Perform workshops, and pebble painting sessions enjoyed by every year group. During our assembly, after discussing the meaning and origins of Karneval, we finished with a therapeutic eurobeat dance around the hall, celebrating together in true festive spirit.

A special well done to our Wellbeing Warriors, who continue to champion and promote positive mental health across the school all year round.

Wishing you all wonderful half-term weeks - we look forward to seeing everyone back in school on Monday, 23rd February.

Patrick

On Thursday 26th February 3:20pm-3:40pm Eco School will be offering Fairtrade Tea and Eco Plant Pots.

Do you have any plant pots you no longer want? Bring them to Ms Natalie or your Eco Rep for the big sale.

We will be asking for a small donation for tea and the plant pots.

All donations will go towards: watering cans for each classroom for plant maintenance, towards more eco-friendly playground fun and plants.

Thank you to everyone who helped with last weekend's gardening day. The wood chip is looking amazing!

What do you think of Artificial Intelligence?

Calling children in Year 4 to Year 6 to bring their ideas to JKPS's Timi Champions. Carolina (Year 6) and Wynn (Year 5) are your wonderful Timi Champions. They will be presenting our thoughts on Artificial Intelligence to the ACC on Thursday 26th February.

So have a think about the questions below and send through your thoughts to admin@judithkerr.anthemtrust.uk

Carolina and Wynn will also be asking these questions the week after half term.

What's happening in school

🌐 Tech Titans: Year 6 Web Designers

Our Year 6 students have officially entered the world of web development! This term, the classroom transformed into a digital agency as pupils took on the challenge of building their own professional websites using Google Sites. From hobby portfolios to informational wikis, the variety of sites produced was incredible. We are so impressed with their creativity and their ability to troubleshoot technical hurdles like seasoned pros!

Reception had so many reasons to celebrate this week! We began by learning all about Lunar New Year and were incredibly grateful to the parents who came in to share their traditions with us. The children loved discovering how Lunar New Year is celebrated, making their own lanterns, tasting fortune cookies, receiving special red envelopes and learning why the lucky colour red is so important. Happy Year of the Fire Horse everyone!

We also enjoyed celebrating Carnival and dressed up as pirates, mermaids and cowboys. To top it all off, we marked Love Yourself Day by sharing what makes each of us special and painting pebbles as reminders of what we love about ourselves - little keepsakes to help us through more challenging moments. It has truly been a joyful and meaningful week in Reception!

To round off our learning on Endangered Animals and Animals and their Habitats, Year 4 created their own enclosures for endangered animals. Thinking about everything we learnt and observed at the zoo, we used different materials to plan and create the perfect environment for our animals.

Year 1 Writing

We have been focusing on punctuating sentences and adjectives. To help put this into action, we created our own Wanted Posters in Continuous Provision to help Stanley find his precious, lost stick!

Last Friday, Year 4 took an exciting trip to London Zoo to round off their learning on Endangered Animals and Animals and their Habitats. Despite the rainy weather, they got to see so many incredible animals including giraffes, lions, tigers, lemurs, penguins and even were able to get very close to some spider monkeys!

SEND Update

Further to the email sent two weeks ago, if your child is already on the SEND register (this is something that you will have discussed with the school), you should have received an email offering surgery times in the first week back with our Trust Head of Inclusion, Kelsey Clarke-Davies. This is in case you have urgent items to follow up on. Appointments can be made via admin@judithkerr.anthemtrust.uk

If your child isn't yet on the register, and you need to follow up on a new or existing concern, please contact your child's class teacher at first point of call, or their Phase Leader. Emails can be sent via admin@judithkerr.anthemtrust.uk

Attendance

{item_alt_tag}

School attendance is mandatory for all students of compulsory school age. Whilst we understand that it isn't always possible to reach 100% attendance, we are fully committed to ensuring the highest levels of attendance to ensure we enable every student to meet their potential.
