 Friday 27th February 2026

Dear Families,

With the sun making a rare appearance this week, it was wonderful to see fresh green shoots emerging in our newly re‑sown lawn area. A huge thank you to Donncha and Mr Alex for their hard work!

In today’s assemblies, we were excited to share details of the new playground equipment arriving next week. This is part of our commitment to encouraging more positive play choices, and it was lovely to see Ms Nikki and her class learning some traditional outdoor games earlier today. Alongside our school values, we’ll be promoting safe play, kind play, and fair play.

Next week is World Book Day—please see Ms Amy’s email from earlier for full details. We’ll have buddy reading, a whole‑school story, a shared whole‑school book, a reading relay, dressing up, and much more.

Later in the month, we look forward to celebrating Neurodiversity Celebration Week. More about that soon.

Schönes Wochenende!

Patrick

Office notices:

Appointments

We are receiving a high number of term‑time leave requests that we cannot authorise. Such absences affect children’s learning and our overall attendance figures, so we appreciate your support in prioritising regular attendance.

If an appointment during school hours is unavoidable, please provide a copy of the appointment letter or confirmation to the Attendance Officer or School Office, or forward it when emailing absence@judithkerr.anthemtrust.uk. This evidence is required to authorise the absence.

For illness-related absences, please include a brief description of your child’s symptoms when reporting their absence. Stating that your child is “unwell” is not sufficient. Specific details help us monitor illness in school and take any necessary action. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and healthy environment for all students.

Punctuality

Thank you to everyone who has supported us with tightening up the start of the school day. This really helps our school days begin calmly and on time. The school gates open at 8:35am and close at 8:50am. If children arrive after this time, parents/carers need to sign them in at the main office.

Payments

This is a reminder that all payments for the Spring term are due by Friday the 06th of March 2026. Kindly log in to your account and navigate to “Outstanding Payments” to review your balance and make your payment.

🥔 12noon Kids Activity: Each child can plant their own potatoes. Over the next couple of months we can observe them growing and hopefully we can harvest them ahead of the summer holidays 🥔

🪴 Do come along, any 1/2 hour helps, and there is plenty to do 🪴

What's happening in and around school

We are so proud of Wyn and Carolina, our JKPS Timi Champions. This week they presented to the ACC their survey findings following research about the impact of AI. They are both true ambassadors for our school.

What better way to start the week than tasting tea! Year 3's had a lovely time sipping various types of tea as inspiration for their writing, part of their Cloud Tea Monkeys Literacy Tree unit.

On Monday, Y4 took part in an immersive experience day all focused on our new topic of Invaders. We looked at how the Vikings and Anglo-Saxons influenced life in Britain by looking at Norse gods and mythology, the life of an Anglo Saxon monk, Viking runes, the epic story of Beowulf and recreating life in an everyday Viking village. Skål!

Y4 then kicked off their maths unit on length and perimeter by exploring measurement in a practical way. Using rulers, metre sticks and tape measures, the children predicted the lengths of different objects around the classroom before measuring them accurately. Could you predict what the smallest and biggest objects in our classrooms were?

Y4 and Y5 both enjoyed a parent-led special Lunar New Year assembly. They learned all about the year of the horse and had a chance to write the word horse in Mandarin. They also made money bracelets and were given red envelopes with treats inside at the end of the day.  Thank you so much to the families who supported with this.

Year 1 Zaha Hadid Class visited the Elms Care Home to sing songs, share their kindness book and ask questions to the residents. We met lots of friendly residents including Ann who was a Reception teacher for decades, she was SO excited to have children visit the care home.

Michael, the Wellbeing Lead at the Elms, said 'the kids were absolutely amazing!'.

SEND Update

As our SENDCo, Ms Beverley, is not currently in school and will also be absent next week, please direct any SEND‑related communications to your child’s class teacher as the first point of contact, or to Mr Patrick, Ms Sarah, or Ms Chantelle.

Attendance

School attendance is mandatory for all students of compulsory school age. Whilst we understand that it isn't always possible to reach 100% attendance, we are fully committed to ensuring the highest levels of attendance to ensure we enable every student to meet their potential.
