Friday 19th July 2024

Dear Families,

On this day in 1848, the suffragette movement began with the first women's rights convention in the United States. This added particular poignance to the Year 5's performance this morning,'Heroes Through The Ages', as their band of suffragettes joined a host of other heroes from the past to entertain us. What a spectacular representation of their talents and learning.

What a smashing event our Sports Day was this year. Thank you so much to Ms Keziah, Coach Leo and Coach Ollie, and everyone who helped ensure it ran so smoothly. A particular thanks too, to the parent helpers. The children were all amazing and well done to Ms Danielle and Ms Sarah's purple team!

Schoene Wochenende!

Next week reminder:-we will be breaking up for the summer at 2pm on Thursday, 25th July. Clubs will run as normal Monday to Wednesday, but there won't be any clubs on Thursday.

Bike Sale Thank you to all those who contributed to the second-hand bike sale which raised £1240 for the school! Proceeds will go towards developing our outdoor play area.

Remember to keep checking in to the Mog Chronicle. The latest article is a fabulous review of the Masked Teacher night.

And fantastic news - the night helped raise £2400 to go towards our  sensory room! What an incredible achievement and team effort.

Smartphone-Cautious Childhood - JKPS Parent Survey

Last month, a few parents started a JKPS group as part of the Smartphone Free Childhood campaign that has sprung up across the UK recently. We would like to invite you to take part in a short survey to gauge opinion on our children owning smartphones. We're keen to hear everyone's views, whether you’ve already got your child a phone, are thinking about it, or want to know more about the issue.
Survey: https://forms.gle/RHHnt3E9PYcoK7AN9
The survey takes 5 minutes and is anonymous. Deadline: Sunday 21st July. We'll share a report of the findings with more resources on the topic in the last week of school. Thank you for taking the time to complete it.

Note from school: whilst at JKPS we advocate reducing screen time and educating around the health risks linked to smartphone usage, this is a parent-led initiative.

More sporting news... and outstanding achievements

The JKPS Tigers Girls Team has been playing in a league on Saturdays. The league was undecided until the final game: JKPS needed to win the final game to win the league (anything else and the opposing side would win). It was a great match, and the Tigers won (see first photo)!

Really great for everyone who has participated in the league this year, particularly those now hanging up their JKPS shirts (see second photo)!

And, of course, none of it would be possible without Coach Leo and Miss Millie supporting and developing football for girls at JKPS. Children will be receiving their medals in an assembly on Monday.

Litter Legends

A lovely message about reducing litter from some of our Year 2's. Reducing litter will definitely be a priority for September!

Friends Corner

Today’s Friends Corner is all about thankfulness!

Thanks to those who helped run the events at Sports Day, it was a brilliant day and we can’t wait to see the children coming home with their medals.

Thank you to all who helped at last weekend’s gardening day. We hope you’ve spotted the newly painted benches in the playground, and the much more visible blue sign (and cat!) on the gate.

Thanks to everyone who donated and bought bikes for the Peddle My Wheels bike sale last week, the final total raised was £1230, which is one of their most successful bike sales ever!

Thanks so much to the whole school community who supported the amazing Masked Teacher. It raised over £2000 for the school’s Sensory Room project and was an excellent night out too! If you couldn’t make it but would like to donate, please make a one-off donation here.

Lastly, thank you to all the carers and parents who have given up your time or lent your support to the Friends and the School through the year. It all makes a huge difference to the quality of our children’s experience at JKPS, and their smiling faces tell how positive that is!

Last event of the year next week before we break for the summer!
