Friday 13th September 2024

Dear Families,

Thank you all so much for collecting your children so promptly this afternoon. We apologise for the inconvenience this will have caused and greatly appreciate all your support and understanding. I also want to extend my personal thanks to all of the staff and children who were so efficient and calm in dealing with the situation. We are working with the plumbers to try and resolve the issue as soon as possible. We will give you an update on the situation by 5pm on Sunday.

We were really sorry to have had to postpone our Schultüte Parade as a result of closing early today, but assure you that this will be rescheduled very soon.

Schönes Wochenende!

Patrick

Reading Rewards

Whilst many of us love to read, there's nothing like a little incentive to get us reading bit more. And as well as being a great way to unwind, disappearing into a good book, it's all an incredibly important life skill. Do encourage your child to read every day and help keep them motivated by signing their reading record.

This week in school...

It's been fantastic to see the children starting to get into their writing this week. All year groups have now started their Litearcy Tree reading and writing texts and they're already thriving! See some examples below from across the school.

And Year 1 say: "We're diving into our brand-new book, Cave Baby, and the adventure has already begun! The kids are channelling their inner artists and creating their own incredible cave drawings right in the classroom. It's like stepping back in time and bringing prehistoric art to life!"

It's also been great to hear the children who signed up to RockSteady getting into their sessions and forming their bands. More on this soon.

Friends Corner

Welcome to all the new families joining the school. There’s lots going on as ever.

Don’t forget the first 🍄Gardening Day This Sunday 15 Sept 11am - 3pm. The weather is looking quite nice, and it’s a great time to enjoy the garden with your children before the cold sets in. We’ll be aiming to spruce up the garden ahead of the annual Oktoberfest.

We’d love to introduce our new treasurer, Glen Pick, a year 2 parent, who’s just been appointed as a new trustee. And a reminder that we are looking for someone to take on the Trustee role of Secretary which has been carried out impeccably by Liz Holt (Y3 parent) for the last few years. Your responsibilities would be to participate in and take minutes for the FOJKPS council and Trustee meetings, ensuring the Friends adhere to their constitution, and to organise the Annual General Meeting (AGM). Let us know if you’re interested fojkps@gmail.com.

Thanks to everyone who came along to our social evening, it was great to meet so many new faces. You can find out more about what we do here, and we’ll organise a coffee get together very soon! For regular updates (and to save on what’s app messages) join our “Community” WhatsApp channel. Link to join is here.
