Friday 7th February 2025

Dear Families,

Curriculum enrichment is so important to us in making our children's experience at JKPS meaningful, relevant and inspiring. Read below to find out about how busy your children have been this week, not just with their usual learning, but with Children's Mental Health Week, author visits, excursions, and today's NSPCC Number Day.  And there's lots coming up next week too - a Scholastic Book Fair, DT Week, and Year 3 are off to the Natural History Museum.

Meanwhile, as a staff team we are always trying to develop our skills. Thank you to Anne Sheppee who delivered an incredibly informative and inspirational session on dyslexia to all our teachers on Wednesday.

Thank you to everyone who supported our NSPCC Number Day. Whilst we had to bring the Karneval inside, we had two brilliant assemblies to celebrate.

Schönes Wochenende!

Patrick

Stepping into Stories

This week, children at Judith Kerr had the exciting opportunity to step into stories as every class participated in a special session with a visiting author or illustrator. Authors such as Ken Wilson-Max, Terry Chilvers, Kieran Larwood, Sam Sedgman, and David Farr captivated students with insights into their creative inspirations and storytelling journeys. Illustrator Tim Budgen brought characters to life, with the children even getting the chance to draw along with him.  It was a truly magical celebration of storytelling and creativity!

Safeguarding

Next week is Safer Internet Day.  As a parent or carer you play a key role in helping your child to stay safe online.

You don’t need to be an expert on the internet to help keep your child stay safe online.  Visit the UK Safer Internet website to find advice and resources to support you as you support your child to use the internet safely, responsibly and positively.

Children's Mental Health Week

This week we have been celebrating Children's Mental Health Week. The theme has been 'Know Yourself To Grow Yourself'. The whole school have been making trees to represent ourselves, thinking about our core values as the roots and what's important to us to allow us to grow into the people we want to become.
