Dear Families,

Happy 'Love Yourself Day'!

Love and kindness have definitely been in the air at JKPS today and it's been great to see all the children dressed in their favourite outfits. Several of the staff stepped up to the occasion too, showing off their finest attire. Ms Chloe even wore her hearts on her slippers!

As we spread the warmth, it was lovely to welcome our new Year 1 teachers Ms Natalie and Ms Grace, though sad to say farewell to Ms Ellen and Ms Phoebe. However, having missed out on last week's parade due to the cold weather, it was a perfect excuse for an outdoor assembly at the end of the day and the sun shone for us.

Wishing everyone a safe and happy half-term and we look forward to seeing you all when we return on the 24th.

Patrick

Wow! Thank you to everyone who donated for NSPCC number day. We raised a brilliant £206.45. This will be donated directly to the NSPCC and could be used to help buy resources for children's counselling sessions, or support with the NSPCC Helpline. Your donations will make a real difference to people's lives.

Thank you to everyone who braved the weather and came down to help with the gardening last weekend. The garden is definitely ready for the spring!

This week's Book Fair

We would like to thank you for your incredible support during the Scholastic Book Fair and thank you to Ms Amy and the volunteers who helped make it happen. Your enthusiasm and participation made this event a success! Any books that were out of stock but already paid for will be delivered to your child after half-term, as they are currently on order. These books will be delivered directly to your child.

If there are any outstanding orders for books that were not available during the fair, please email our admin team, and we will be happy to place an order after half term for you through Scholastic.

For every book purchased at the fair, the school receives rewards in the form of additional books, helping to enrich our class and library resources. Thank you again for your continued support, and we hope your child enjoys their new books!

DT Week

Across the school this week, children have been honing their Design and Technology skills. Y1 designed their own eggs inspired by The Odd Egg. They then constructed their eggs to make their own 3D egg!  Meanwhile, Y2 learned about mechanisms and incorporated levers and sliders into their pictures and 3D models, Y4 made zoo enclosures, and Y5 made these rather fabulous Karneval floats.

Safeguarding

Often children will end up spending more time online over the holiday breaks. Are you confident that you are keeping them safe online?

You don’t need to be an expert on the internet to help keep your child stay safe online.  Visit the UK Safer Internet website to find advice and resources to support you as you support your child to use the internet safely, responsibly and positively.

Attendance

{item_alt_tag}

School attendance is mandatory for all students of compulsory school age. Whilst we understand that it isn't always possible to reach 100% attendance, we are fully committed to ensuring the highest levels of attendance to ensure we enable every student to meet their potential.

Friends Corner

❓Back by popular demand is our Table Quiz on Wednesday 26 March from 7pm - tickets will go on sale after half term, so please start getting your teams together! We’d love a team from each year group, going head to head against the teachers (if we can persuade them…hint hint!) Proceeds to go towards German provision - see more below.

🇩🇪 With Shout out for German week coming up, we’d like to announce that FOJKPS are exploring how we can support the school with enabling a return of German interns from September, and we’ll also support the cost of this year’s Year 6 Goethe Institute tests, to allow all Year 6 children the option to participate.

🗳️ This year’s AGM will be on Thursday 27th March at 8pm (online). Our two wonderful chairs, Jane and Paula, will be standing down after two years in the role, so now is your chance to put yourself forward if you’re interested in joining the team and helping to shape the future of FoJKPS fundraising. Email us at fojkps@gmail.com if you’d like to find out more about what being a Co-Chair entails and to put your name forward.

🖼️ The commemorative 10th anniversary art work project is moving along, with a teachers' workshop led by parent Stefanie Posavec this week. The children will create their contributions to the artwork in the first week back after half term. The final artwork will be developed with parent Lara Ritosa Roberts and her Morley College students and the children will all get a chance to participate.

👕 Thank you to everyone who donated and bought pre-loved uniform yesterday. We raised over £150, saving us all money while helping to reduce textile waste and supporting the circular economy! We will have another sale in March as the weather gets warmer.
