Friday 28th February 2025

Dear Families,

It has been lovely welcoming the children back in this week and, after a fairly soggy start to the week, the sun has truly been back out today, and we have been able to open up our green space more.

We are looking forward to celebrating World Book Day next week and whilst every day at JKPS is a day to celebrate books and reading, we have a host of exciting activities lined up for the end of the week. Please see below for how you can help your child get involved. On the subject of books, thank you so much again to everyone who contributed to making our Scholastic Book Fair such a success -  as a result of your spend, the school will now be able to spend an amazing £1185.04 on new books! And finally, still on the subject of reading, it was great to discuss with our library volunteers plans to refresh our school library in parallel the school receiving resources alongside other Anthem schools as part of a national reading research project. Watch this (reading) space!

Schönes Wochenende!

Patrick

Key messages:

Next Wednesday, 5th March we are again holding Parent/Carer teacher meetings. If you haven't yet booked your appointment with your child's class teacher, please do so as soon as possible. This is a really important opportunity for you to find out about how they are progressing with their learning.

Ms Georgia will be in attendance in her role as SENDCo at Parent/Carer teacher meetings, please do pop over to her desk if you would like to speak to her about your child/ren. The desk will not be appointment based but will be an open drop in.

Don't forget the Action For Happiness calendar which runs all year round. As we move into mindful March,  there are lots of tips on how we can pause, breathe and notice, so we can always respond more mindfully.  I particularly like Sunday's tip: notice three things you find beautiful in the outside world.

World Book Day 2025

Hopefully you will have seen our letter about World Book Day this morning. Just a reminder, next Friday 7th March, we would like to invite the children to take part in one or more of the following activities:

  • Dress up as their favourite book character,
  • OR just come to school in comfy clothes, so that they curl up with their favourite book at given points during the day.

We will also be running a Potato Book Characters Competition – no obligation to enter, but it could be fun! All you need to do is transform a potato into a book character.  Entries should be brought into school on Thursday and Friday. Finally, your child might also be interested in trying to earn a Blue Peter Book badge! Click on this link to find out more.
