Friday 28th  June 2024

Dear Families,

Thank you so much to the Friends of JKPS and all those who helped organise last Saturday's Summer Picnic, and to all the families able to attend. It was lovely event, the weather was perfect, as was the entertainment. Thank you to Devon, to Sophie for stepping in to support the school choir, and to the Y5 steel pan players.

Fantastisch! What a brilliant production the Year 2's put on for us this week. Their show 'London's Burning' was full of fun and laughter and song, whilst consolidating their learning about the Great Fire of London, and paying homage to our favourite cat, Mog. Year 2 children and Year 2 team - you are an incredibly talented bunch, well done all of you.

On 11th July, we will be hosting a second-hand bike sale, and opportunity for bike repairs. See the Friends' Corner below for more details.

If you missed the first MogPod in last week's newsletter, make sure you have a listen here.

And finally, a massive well done to our Year 4's who won both first and third places at the London South Platform Cricket tournament on Tuesday!

Schönes Wochenende!

More Library news...

The Library is up and running with books being borrowed; thank you to all the parents who have volunteered. And thanks to the Friends for funding some new books.

Library books are stamped with a Mog Stamp designed by Aurelia in year 6, and also with a coloured sticker on the spine. Please keep an eye out for these books and return them when done (there’s a box for returns in the office, and another in the library). The kids are being told they can keep the books as long as they need, but not as long as they want! Here are some example photos.

Book donations welcome. We need books for beginner independent readers (eg Dog Man, Dragon, Max & Chaffy, Claude in the City and Maggie Sparks). Dr Suess and the ‘Little People, Big Dreams’ series are also very popular. We are well stocked for other picture books, so please no more of these.

Deutschecke

It's been fantastic to see Year 1 and 2 children including German songs and dialogue enthusiastically and confidently into their end of year shows over the last couple of weeks.

Hier ist ein Zungenbrecher. In this one, you can see quite a few similarities between English and German.

Hundert hungrige Handwerker haben Heißhunger auf Hamburger.

One hundred hungry craftsmen are super hungry for hamburgers.

Well done to Oliver (Y2) for your rather wonderful animal pictures that you drew and labelled as part of your German learning. Wunderbar!
