Friday 8th November 2024

Dear Families,

Welcome back! On the day we finished for the half-term break, your child should have come home with a template for making a Christmas card. If they child would like to take part, their completed Christmas card template needs to be handed into the school office by the end of the day on Tuesday (12th November) next week. If you have any queries around this, please speak to the office team.

We are very much looking forward to our annual Sankt Martin celebrations today. At the end of the day, the children in EYFS paraded their very wonderful lanterns in front of the rest of the school. Thank you so much to the EY parents who supported with making the lanterns. Find out more about how Sankt Martin's is celebrated in Germany here and sing-a-long to Laterne Larterne.

Next week is Anti-Bullying Week. To raise awareness about the impact of bullying, on Tuesday, we are inviting all children to come into school wearing odd-socks as part of Odd Socks Day. Please encourage your child to take part and to bring in £1. Money raised will go towards buying books for each classroom which tackle the issue of bullying.

Schönes Wochenende!

Patrick

Reminders: If your child has been invited in for Early Morning reading, please note that this is only for Mondays through to Thursdays. On Fridays, they should come in at the normal time.

Please note there is a correction for the date of the KS1 production - this will be on Tuesday, 17th December. The EYFS Christmas production will be on Tuesday. 10th December. Please see key dates below.

Celebrating Diwali

This week, Year 1 were immersed in the vibrant celebration of Diwali. In a parent-led workshop, the children admired Hindu statues, explored beautiful books about the festival and heard enchanting stories. They also saw stunning traditional outfits and enjoyed a delicious feast of fresh fruit. To top it off, the students baked Diwali cookies and crafted their very own clay dried Diva lamps. The parents also led a workshop in Year 3. Thank you so much to the wonderful families who brought this festival of light to life for the children.

JKPS Beaver and Cub Scouts Coat Drive

The JKPS Beaver and Cub Scouts are holding a coat drive for the month of November in coordination with WrapUp London. New and used warm coats (all sizes) are being collected at school from now until the 24th November. The collection bag can be found outside the reception office. Last year we took over 70 warm winter coats to be distributed, and it was a great way to tie together the story with Sankt Martin and the practice of charity.

Clubs update - a message from the office team

We are aware that there are a number of outstanding queries regarding clubs at the moment, particularly with regard to payments and vouchers. Please be assured that the team are working on these and bear with as we continue to work on resolving the outstanding issues.

Over the half term, Ms Rebecca visited our partner school (Gemeinschaftsgrundschule Garthestraße Köln). She taught an English lesson to Klasse 4, where they asked her questions in English and read them a book. They were very excited to know that their pen pals had read their letters and received their friendship book! She also was able to observe teaching in Klasse 1 across all subjects, including German and Maths. She really enjoyed her visit and is looking forward to their visit in February!
